Kids supra pubic catheter

Long story short- my 9 year old had an operation 2 months ago. Ever since he's had a supra pubic catheter in on clamp and release. But he's not releasing it after he goes to the toilet, especially at school. It's vital he does this otherwise his health will rapidly go down hill, he'll start getting infections, his bladder may stop working altogether and it may affect the only kidney he has.
I've tried talking to him, his dad, nan, aunties ect have all tried. I've tried to tell him how important it is and what will happen if he doesn't and he's still not getting it. I dont know what else I can do.
Does anyone have any advice?!
I'm worried out of my mind how this is going to end.

Can you get a specialist nurse to speak to him?

So he’s currently not got a urostomy bag, it’s one he needs to release to empty his bladder every few hours? Could you explain that if he doesn’t he’s going to have to get a urostomy bag? Is this likely to be permanent?

The nurses and his consultant have spoke to him telling him how important it is but it seems to go in one ear and out the other 😔.
He had a leg bag to begin with after his op but they changed him to clamp and release as they want him to use his bladder as much as he can, He has free flow over night with a bag.
Yes it's likely to be permanent, they said it may not always be this way but chances are he will need some kind of drainage for the rest of his life. I've told him if he doesn't start doing it then he'll go back to the leg back.
I know its alot for a 9 year old who just wants to be normal but if he carries on he'll never get the chance to go back to being a normal 9 year old 😕
