Diarrhoea during puberty

My son is 12 and lately has been suffering from bouts of diarrhoea. It started in lockdown when there was no school usually early evening or in the middle of the night. No pain or no signs of illness he just feels the urge and needs to go usually one bout sometimes 2 with about half an hour between each bout. Last night it happened again so he had to miss school today but is 100% well in himself. He also had to have a day off just before easter. I have kept a diary of his food and there seems no particular trigger. He never has it in the day so he could go to school but I am following the 24 hr rule. It is so random. I just wondered if it could be a puberty thing. He has had a massive growth spurt, getting hairy everywhere and his voice has started breaking. Anyone elses child suffered with this during puberty?
