Red ears with bumps on

Both my boys (age 10 and 12) have bumps on their ears that weren't there before - on the outer bit at the edges on top.

Started with the 12 year old about a week ago, he had white spots that have now gone scaly and his ear is red. Now my 10 year old has a bright red ear with red lumps on.

I was going to go to the chemist on the way home from the school run but the queue was really long and i had to get back to work from home for a meeting. I'll try again tomorrow.

In the meantime, anyone know what this might be? I'm assuming it's contagious...

Hey, my 7 year old has this as do a number of boys in his class. It is juvenile spring eruption probably due to the recent sunny weather, cold wind and newly exposed ears post lockdown haircut! It isn't contagious and should go by itself. My son's has now spread to his cheeks and nose as well. This link is quite useful....

Oh that is interesting! They have both had a haircut about a week ago, first time in ages... sounds like that might be it. Thank you!

My little daughter has this (hair up for school!) and I've spoken to at least 3 other parents whose children have it in the last week! Had nevr heard of it before. We've been suncreaming ears and it's sorted it.
