It's going to be fine. There's nothing else you need. He may not even need the calpol. Just try not to catastrophise.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 14/04/2021 07:30

It'll be fine, it's over in a second and mine never even needed calpol afterwards. A split second of discomfort for protection from nasty illnesses is worth it. Children pick up on our distress so try to appear outwardly calm. One of mine didn't even cry!

Mammyofasuperbaby · 14/04/2021 07:36

Both of mine cried for a few minutes when it was done and that's it, they forgot about it.
They had a mild temperature and were a bit grumpy for 24hrs after but nothing that calpol and extra cuddles didn't sort out.
There's nothing to worry about, so please try to relax. All baby needs is you, cuddles and maybe a little calpol.

MsChatterbox · 14/04/2021 07:45

What I would recommend is as soon as she's done stand up with baby so they know it's over. If you're breastfeeding you could also give a quick feed to settle them. If not a cuddle will do the same. I give calpol straight after I don't wait for a temperature as I figure it will help with the sore legs anyway. Baby will forget really quickly. Concentrate on it soon being over rather than the event itself.

MotherOfCrocodiles · 14/04/2021 08:00

I went armed with a bottle to shove in their mouth straight afterwards. Now they are older it's chocolate buttons instead!

Be careful with hand washing for 2 weeks after

Glad he settled quickly. I would give calpol for 2 days personally (4 doses per day). Yes their poop can make you poorly so wash your hands after nappy changes.
