3yo bloodshot eye ongoing, dull white.

Any suggestions please. A couple of weeks ago my 3yo woke up with a very bloodshot eye. He wasn't bothered at all, no explanation why it had happened. No rubbing, no soreness. It went down after 48 hours or so. But now to this day, it will flare back up, just one eye. And if I pull the skin down, the white below his eye is still quite pink. And from what me and DH the general white of his eye looks duller than his right eye. I tried the GP who because of covid asked for photos which didn't show enough so they poo poo'd us saying he was probably recovering from a virus. He hasn't been ill at all. I have booked the opticians but it's two weeks away.

Are both his pupils the same size in normal light levels? Any discharge when it first happened?

Thanks so much for responding. Yes I've checked his pupils and both seem the same in normal light. I've also done the flash test and neither pupil appears white although I think the eye in question flashes more orange than a deep red. No discharge at all that I've seen.

Most likely to have been an infection which has left the eye (temporarily) a bit dry. You can get some lubricating drops from the chemist.
It needs to be seen by by the optician still, but unless it gets worse or starts bothering him, or you notice any changes to the pupil, a couple of weeks should be fine.
