My daughter is 10 and I found a grey hair. Her hair is long, fine, brown and wavy. This was grey and wirey. Should I be concerned? It's the second I've found. The last one was about 6 months ago

I used to get greys as a child, just the odd one from time to time. I’m 37 now and still only get the odd one. I wouldn’t worry, I don’t think it’s anything sinister

That's reassuring thank you!

Is her hair very thick? Our DS 9 has very thick hair and we've found a few grey hairs. My hairdressers said it's very common in children with thick hair.

I’ve had a few since that age and have similar age. I’m in my thirties and have a few more but not loads.

Trisolaris · 12/04/2021 00:05

*have similar hair type

I have found a couple in my dd's hair. She's 7. I'm not concerned because I remember my mum finding them in my head at around the same age. I'm 35 now and I have a few greys but my hair is still mostly brown.

Neither of us have thick hair, our hair is very fine and wavy.

My DD (now 15, also fine wavy brown hair) started getting them around 12. No-one else in the family has had them so early - I’m guessing it may be related to her being coeliac (it was undiagnosed when greys first appeared).

My nearly 11yo has had a few for years. I'm 32 and dark haired but very grey

LittleMissMe99 · 12/04/2021 23:03

Thanks all, I feel much less worried now. She has fine hair, but a LOT of it, and it's very wavy

My 5 year old has thick black hair and has one strand of grey hair randomly. I never gave it a second thought.

2 hairs? I couldn't worry about 2 hairs.

2 of my DC have poliosis. One patch only became suddenly apparent when bigDS was 11 or 12. He is self-conscious about it so gets it specially cut short or resorts to dying it, not sure which.

I have been finding them in my 11 year olds head since she was 6 she has quite a few
