Lump on head

Apologies for the long post...

Hi all, it's my first time posting. . I'm after some advice / reassurance if anyone can help I'd be very greatful 🙏🙏.

About a week ago I found a hard round lump about the size of a pea, on my 14 month olds head. I've circled the location on the photo, but it's hard to see. It feels boney, but it doesn't seem to bother him, even when I poke it.

I've had a stressful week constantly on the phone to the doctors who wouldn't see him in person until 'it was there longer than a week.' 🙄 i eventually got to see the doctor today who said she didn't know what it was, she is worried it could be effecting the orbit of his eye and he needed an urgent refferal to the Pediatric Opthalmologist.... And now I'm really freaking out. 😭😭
My parents are understandably worried too and have kindly said they will pay for us to go private, but my husband is against doing this as he thinks it's unnecessary...

Has anybody experienced anything similar?
The waiting seems unbearable and I'm worried about how long the list could be.
But I don't want a row with my husband about the refferal, I wouldn't know where to start with it to be fair anyway. 😔

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks for reading xx

I don't see a picture. Pilar cyst?

squishy11 · 08/04/2021 22:49

Can't see a photo either. My DS has a 1cm cyst on his eyebrow which he's had since birth. He had an ultrasound referral which confirmed it as a cyst when he was about 6 months old and we were told to watch it to see if it grew/changed/moved into the eye socket. He's 4 now and it's not changed and they have no intention of doing anything about it. Occasionally it goes red when he's hot and has been running around. It doesn't bother him at all.

Thank you for getting back to me. I couldn't work out how to upload a photo 🙈. Did the docs refer you directly for an ultrasound or did you see an opthalmologist first?

We were referred straight to ultrasound, and I don't remember it being that long, possibly only a few weeks. If it's an urgent referral hopefully it won't be long for you to see someone.
