Reflux is awful - any advice?

My 3 and a half month old baby has always had a tendency towards reflux but recently it seems he can keep nothing down.

We’ve been prescribed gaviscon which temporarily helped but has outlived its usefulness and omeprazole which doesn’t seem to be helping at all.

Is there anything else that could help? With no weigh ins or HV visits I can only go off my scales and he’s on the small side which worries me. He also seems very unsettled sometimes with back arching and the reflux seems a bit acidic at the moment.

What milk is he on?
Have you tried a thickener?

Hi, that’s what the Gaviscon is, I think. It just means he throws up thick milk instead of normal milk!

He’s on Aptimil at the moment - was on Cow and Gate.

Cow and Gate and aptamil are made by the same manufacturer.

I dont think gaviscon is a thickener in the same way that something like carobel would be

(Gaviscon Infant uses two active ingredients which work together to ease gastric reflux, sodium alginate 225mg and magnesium alginate 87.5mg. They both work as reflux suppressants, forming a protective layer over the contents of your baby’s stomach, helping to keep it from coming back up and reducing reflux)

We tried Gaviscon and it was caused constipation issues. We went to sma anti reflux milk and it's the best thing we ever did. Fully recommend. We also used a wedge hog in Moses basket etc

Thank you, I’ll order some Carobel.
