Does this look infected to you?

DD (8) cut her knee on Monday. It's now looking like this. Do you think it's infected? She says it's a bit sore but is otherwise fine.

Conscious that the doctors are all shut now for the bank holiday 😬

Is that puss?

Bagelsandbrie · 01/04/2021 22:55

Personally I would whack a load of germolene on it and see how it is in the morning. If it looks worse or the redness is spreading I’d ask a pharmacist to have a look at it.

Sunshinegirl82 · 01/04/2021 22:58

I'd get the pharmacist to have a look at it tomorrow and see what they think.

Overnight I'd cover it with sudocrem and a plaster and see what it looks like when she wakes up.

GojiberryStar · 01/04/2021 22:58

How big is it?

I had a cut that looked similar after a week or so and ended up properly infected.

Second getting a pharmacist to look at it but some germolene or similar on it tonight.

GojiberryStar · 01/04/2021 23:00

The spreading redness might indicate infection... it doesn't look very deep

sausagerollcake · 01/04/2021 23:01

Get a biro and draw around the edge of the redness. If it gets bigger then seek medical help as the infection is spreading and if it doesn't it should be okay!

Disclaimer: no medical qualifications. Agree with a plaster to,protect it from getting anything in it or getting knocked, but I’m not a fan of putting anything gloopy on it - I’d just make sure it is clean and dry. Reassess tomorrow as above.

WaterBottle123 · 01/04/2021 23:02

Looks low level infected. Savlon or similar tonight, draw round edge to see if redness has spread in morning

FullofSurprises · 01/04/2021 23:02

That does look infected yes. But a mild one. You can try over the counter remedies and if it's gets worse you can ring Gp for antibiotic cream.

Falcon1 · 01/04/2021 23:02

Thanks all. I'm answer to you questions, it's not big - about 3cm. It's also not deep and the amount of redness hasn't changed in 24 hours. Will go to the pharmacy in the morning though, good idea.
