My 7 year old DS has recently started using mouthwash. Tonight be swallowed about 7ml by accident and I'm freaking out! As you can see from my username, I'm a worrier!
It was the kids 'Big Teerh' mouthwash

Freaking out because?...
If it was dangerous they’d not make it for kids. I have 4 kids never needed mouthwash for them, perhaps if he’s prone to drinking it he’s too young for it.
I’m sure he’ll be fine op

Thanks. I'm freaking out in case it will harm him. I have bad mental health issues, health anxiety being one.
He's only just started using it as he has seen us using mouthwash and wanted to try it.

He'll be grand.

My DD did that once. I gave her a glass of milk to wash it down. She loved to tell the tale!

He'll be fine
Remember not to use it after brushing your teeth or you wash away the fluoride you've just put onto your teeth from the toothpaste. If using it do it between brushings

alwaysscared · 22/03/2021 21:21

Thanks for the helpful comments. Didn't realise about using it between brushings.

Completely fine, of he drank a lot he's maybe get a stomach ache but it's for kids there's no way accidentally swallowing 7ml of kids mouth wash will cause him any harm!
I have anxiety too and I understand how these things seem like a real danger at the time but he be fine for cerraint.

BertieBotts · 22/03/2021 21:25

7ml is a very small amount. I don't think it will be a problem.

GoodbyePorpoiseSpit · 22/03/2021 21:27

Dentist told me firmly not to use it for the kids - she says it washes fluoride away and is a waste of time. So I say scrap it :) also he will be fine! But health anxiety is awful, you have my sympathies.

dementedpixie · 22/03/2021 21:28

I think most mouth washes are a waste of money and a bit of a gimmick.

DoubleTweenQueen · 22/03/2021 21:28

I've had a look at the ingredients and nothing worrying - might upset his tummy as in loose stools. 7mls is not very much.
Give him a nice drink and breath deeply

Thank you everyone
