DS is 12, 13 in August. He is an ex-prem, 28 weeker with COPD, multiple severe allergies (fish, nuts, raw egg and legumes).
For the last 3 years he complains a lot about his legs. They're painful. He will actually put his leg down and sort of Spring back up as he says owww, my leg.
The legs around the knees click too, loudly, as does his arms but they don't seem to annoy him. The clicking started about 18 month ago but now it's quite a regular thing to hear him click.
Warm baths help. He takes vitamin d and C, he has steroid inhalers too for his lung issues.
We've seen 3 doctors, 1 GP and two paediatric consultants. He has had blood tests for thyroid issues which were negative.
He's had his reflexes checked, his movement, his spine. No concerns from any of the medical people. It's been put down to growing pains.
It's now causing disagreements between DP and I. DP feels I've now pushed concerns enough. He says he's never heard a child have anything like DS. He never had growing pains. He was on his feet all day every day and no issues.
I always reassure him that of course I've brought it up, I think the consultant is sick of me doing so! I did have pain in my legs as a kid and I was active and I grew out of them at around 14/15. He is demanding appointments for him to go though. Even DS has said that I've definitely said about it and the Consultant checked.
I honestly think it's got worse because of lockdown. He's quite a skinny boy but he's broadened out in the last year. No concerns over weight at all. He eats a good diet despite his allergies. But he's a lazy bugger.
During Lockdowns he has been up and on laptops from the crack of dawn. All summer he and his mates had Minecraft wars over discord and WhatsApp. He would go for the odd walk round the block but when lessons went online all day he didn't want to miss any as teachers could get quite annoyed by that.
He's scared of swimming, not possible at the moment obviously due to lockdown. But I suggested it for the next few weeks as the pools reopen. He doesn't do PE in the winter due to his lungs.
I think he's been back two days, he's not used to being up and walking across buildings and up and down stairs all day so obviously he's going to get a few aches until he gets used to it again.
Has anyone else experienced this? If so what was diagnosed? That way I can ask the consultant when we see her again.
I want everyone to be happy! I hate that he gets aches but I've done everything I should and can and the consultant just looks at me like "I've told you love" and then DP says I'm "dangerous" for dismissing his concerns. I can't win!
