Shark tooth for over a year. Does it need removing?

DD8 has had her adult tooth fully grown through for a year or more now. It's really pushed back and the baby tooth is still sitting in front and has been for over a year. It's not wobbly at all. Does it need removing? DD is unlikely to cooperate without anaesthetic or sedation so it's unlikely to be an easy job.
Thanks for any advice
