our sensitive DS started talking about his anxiety the last year or two.
He talks about what triggers him (losing us mostly, monsters) and he was showing some obsessive compulsive traits.
DH is quite obsessively tidy and I remember as a child being quite obsessive compulsive. I grew out of it I think but do have anxiety and depression as an adult. Still can't step over a kerb with my left foot-has to be my right foot!
Lockdown hasn;t helped but he's been ok. The latest thing is whispering and muttering to himself. It can be constant. We do try and say to him to say it in his head.
Put him to bed tonight ready to restart school tomorrow (we're in scotland, he's in P3). He's excited to see his friends again and seemed fine.
Only for him to come down breaking his heart crying because he misses us. Its all come out. he's scared he'll have to go away from us and live with someone else, to stop that he has to say the same 3 sentences to himself before he walks down our street. Thats what he whispers to himself all the time. Its like he's reassuring himself.
I get where he;s coming from, it feels familiar to how I felt as a child.
He's had cuddles and is in bed, asleep.
What do I do to help him? I'm trying to keep him talking so he can share his feelings. how can I help him?
