To get dla for a child you need to demonstrate that they need significantly more care than a typical child of their age. You need a set number of points to qualify and it's purely on what they need help with (going to medical appointments wasn't taken into account when we qualified, we are now on pip due to age). Have a think about what extra care you have to provide over and above the norm, write it down then have a look at the application form and see how it correlates to the sections. If you want specific advice on completing it please feel free to pm me.

To give you an idea I was told that needing extra help with toiletting didn't count until 5 daytime and 8 nighttime because this was normal range. With helping with food it was age 4 they should be able to feed. But not being able to cut food wasn't applicable until 7.

Ok thank you, he’s needing help with toiletting and changing every day because of diarrhoea, also his on medication that making him tried and sick, so care for him there to. His uveitis, need 12 eye drops daily.
I mean I know so many people that get it for there children and they don’t do hardly anything, my son is now 7
8 in September, his condition started age 5
Thank you.
