Is this possibly asthma?

My 4YO has generally been well since birth. However, whenever she had a cough or cold, the residual cough would last weeks. She was hospitalised once with a bad cold when she ended up short of breath, but discharged shortly after and no further issues since.

However...

Every evening for months now she seems to develop a slightly pleghmy cough. Not when she's asleep or lying down, just in the evening. She won't cough all day, but suddenly in the evening she's doing these annoying little coughs constantly and just sounds a bit phlegmy.

She'll go to bed and sleep fine, with no coughing. And the next day will be fine again. Until the evening...

She's active, eating well and happy. But just so coughy after about 6pm.

My side of the family had lots of asthma, husbands side none. Is this possibly a symptom? Most websites talk about coughing during sleep - which she doesn't really do. It's when she's awake in evening!
