Osteochondritis Dissecans

Hi all,

My daughter is now 11 but about 4 years ago her leg started locking. The GPs dismissed it for a few years and she never had any tests.
Basically her knee suddenly locks and she gets excruciating pain if it's moved at all. Usually this will last 5-10 minutes.

However, the last time it happened, she was in bed ( i think she was reading on her front and dangling her legs) It locked and it stayed locked for hours. She couldn't move so wet herself and stayed in a wet bed ( i couldn't even pull the sheets from under her.
I'd rung 911 who told me to take her to A and E but I explained that I couldn't move her at all. ( I was on my own with my other two younger children). Anyway, they were super busy and said they'd try and get a paramedic out but they didn't come until the next day at about 11am. So she'd been in that locked position all night in intense pain. ( luckily it came out in the morning before the para arrived).
We're both anxious about it happening again. It's happened to her in both legs at school, on the stairs, sitting and in different positions.

I took her back to the GP and they finally referred her. Months on and we finally got out appointment today. Physio was very surprised we'd not even had an xray. She's referred to trauma orthopaedics urgently and says she suspects it could be Osteochondritis Dissecans.

So I wondered if anyone has a child with this and what it entails.
