Newborn baby cold!

Hi

My 2 month old baby has caught a cold. She seems happy in herself when she's awake but all she wants to do is sleep and cuddle. She's eating probably half the amount (little and often) and nappies have been fine (not dehydrated).

She finds it hard to feed as her nose is blocked I think. Her temperature is fine:

Is this normal? I am a first time mum so just worry about everything. Obviously it's the weekend so doctor is closed but I would call 111 if I thought she was really unwell.

Thanks everyone

Sounds quite normal with a cold. With their noses blocked, they can’t breathe and feed, so find it difficult to feed. You can get little ‘sucky’ devices to clear their noses bonfire feeds.
All the while her breathing sounds normal, her temp is okay, her tummy isn’t pulling in excessively, she has wet nappies and she’s happy in herself, she should be fine. Equally, though, if you are very worried, HCPs will normally happily check a baby over.

I second getting one of those "sucky things". I think they're called a nasal aspirator. Our DD hated having a blocked nose and we soon learnt it was the only way to get her back to happy Smile
