Blood in stools

Has anyone experienced this? My 18 mo has been doing poos with bright red blood since Friday.

I took her to see her GP yesterday who said it was probably just an anal fissure and sent her off with a stool softener.

I just had a call from nursery to say my LO did a soft poo with loads of blood.

Should I call her GP again? Don't want to be annoying but kinda worried if there was lots of blood...

Thank you all in advance

Would be reassuring to know the poo was hard, and thus likely to cause a fissure. Worrying signs would be blood mixed in with the poo, rather than in the surface of the poo, or darker blood.

Its definitely not being annoying to contact the gp again, especially if its quite a lot of blood. Most likely is due to a small tear, but needs to be checked out.

Bright red blood isn't always a issue less, likely than black.
This might sound weird but he hasn't eaten red jelly

The nursery saved the nappy and it didn't look like a lot of blood, so will wait to see if it stops happening in a couple days and go back to the gp if not.

Thank you for all your responses!
