Tell me this is haemorrhoids

Ds11 has a lump by his anus, had it just under a week now.

This morning he's woken up to slimy red blood in his boxers and he's in quite a bit of pain.

Please tell me this is just haemorrhoids and how do you make them go??

Last week he went to a&e as he was in pain with his bum and struggling to walk, dr there said possibly haemorrhoids or he strained to hard and pulled a muscle. There wasn't a lump then. But movicol was prescribed.

They did said any further issues to bring him back to a&e so DH has taken him back.

It's just haemorrhoids right? Nothing scary?

Sounds like it but I'm no doctor, just someone who feels his pain.

Xyloproct shrunk mine. Better than anusol or germaloids. Baths may help and you can get a donut shaped cushion for him to sit on. Hope they shrink soon.

And try and keep him regular, lots of water and fibre (or fibre supplements). Has he mentioned being constipated? Years of on / off constipation caused mine.

unibows · 30/12/2020 06:14

Thank you!

No he's not been constipated, he goes regularly and likes to tell me all about them (lovely child Grin)

He has been taking two movicol daily for a week and on Monday he had a terrible belly. He was pooing liquid and his belly really hurt. Fine all day yesterday though.

If he was on the toilet when the blood came out I'd understand but he woke up soaked with blood, right through his boxers, pj's and into his bed.

I'm no doctor either but sounds like it to me as well.

A guy I worked few years ago with had a burst haemorrhoid at work and it stained the office chair!

Hope your DS feels better soon

Bumbleb79 · 30/12/2020 06:28

I feel for your ds. Haemorrhoids are cruel. I suffered from it recently because of constipation issues. Xyloproct and procetosedyl suppository helped in healing.
Best is to check with your doctor again.

UncomfortableSilence · 30/12/2020 06:54

Your update says he's woken up soaked with blood, I would get that looked at by someone again, try 111. It may well be haemorrhoids but if there is that amount of blood I would want it checking.

He's at a&e/minor injuries now (whatever it is at my hospital)

They can hurt like hell but the cream they can prescribe will make him feel better by this evening. Poor lad. Maybe they were itching in his sleep and he scratched at it and tore it.

UncomfortableSilence · 30/12/2020 07:03

That's good OP, let us know how he gets on.

unibows · 30/12/2020 08:16

Not haemorrhoids, he had an abcess that's burst.

Poor sod

Poor little thing. One of those donut cushions may help until it heals. Hope he's feeling better soon.

unibows · 30/12/2020 09:25

He's waiting for the surgeon to have a look at it and then will decide what they do.

Hate being at home waiting

I hope your DS recovers soon. What a horrible end to the year.

LockdownLove · 30/12/2020 19:24

Oh my poor little chap.
What a rubbish thing to have happen.

DianaOfTheLakes · 30/12/2020 20:25

How's he doing @unibows ?

unibows · 30/12/2020 20:41

He has been like a different child!!

He's been so happy all day. Said he can move without pain!

The surgeon said he was fine to come home, it looked like all the contents of the abscess had gone. But he has to go back in two weeks for a check up. Any pain or fever to ring gp

Glad to hear that he's feeling better. x

UncomfortableSilence · 31/12/2020 06:30

Glad he's ok, how horrible for him.
