Orthodontic glue left on teeth

DD had her braces removed yesterday but the orthodontist couldn't remove all the glue from the back teeth because DD kept gagging.
She is due to go back in one month for an Xray and check. The orthodontist will try again.
2 questions:
Is there anything we can do in advance of the appointment to prevent the gag reflex?
If it is still not possible for the orthodontist to remove the glue, what are the long term consequences of leaving the glue on the teeth?

DD is 16 and has to attend the appointments alone because of Covid restrictions.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

When i had my braces removed (20+ years ago) i remember being very upset that i had glue left on my newly straightened teeth, wasn't even just the back ones! No actual advice, but i would ring the orthodontists office and ask them these questions direct.

There is no trouble if there's a little glue remaining as long and the oral hygiene is good. Gag reflex is difficult it's all about the tongue position and regular breathing. May be worth practicing at home with you trying with a toothbrush in their mouth mimicking the dentist. I'm an ortho nurse btw.

Thank you. That's very useful. I have found a website which explains how to practise.
