Background, last year ds-11yrs has a molar that had a problem and was going to have to be removed. Not causing pain or infection but there was a worry that this could erupt into something.
Dentist did not think it was possible to do in dentist surgery so would need to be referred to a specialist paediatric place.
That as fine, they asked for orthodonist to also check him out as might possibly need braces in the future so if anything needed to be removed for that better to get it all done at once.
Covid lockdown happened -all ground to a halt.

Last went to dentist in Oct- told all fine and brushing teeth well.

Dh just arrived back with ds from appt at hospital and specialist has told them he needs that tooth out. But also 2 other fillings and a crown on another tooth. Very shocked normal dentist has not picked this up. Dh thinks we should change immediately which I agree with as myself and the children all attend there. I pay a monthly private fee and we are all covered under this.

Fuming that it has not been picked up. Surely normal dentist should have seen that he needed two fillings and a crown a month ago.
Don't know whether to just go along with whatever has been suggested. Thinking I will ask if another dentist at the practice can take us on and have xrays for all of us to check nothing else has been missed.

Apart from this is there anything I am missing.

Have you had experience of crowns and children???
Feel a bit overwhelmed by this at the moment and feel so sorry for my son.
