My dd 15 has had a headache since Tuesday. She's been coming home from school early because of it.

Paracetamol and ibuprofen aren't making any difference.

Any ideas what to do? Call 111? Not sure what they'd do?

She does suffer from migraines but this doesn't seem to be a migraine. No aura like her normal migraines and no sickness. She has had a bit of nausea. I have given her one of the pink migraleve tablets but that didn't seem to help.

Without the sore throat I would have Said maybe Sinusitis. Those headaches are awful and last days

MissisBoote · 05/12/2020 17:47

@DishRanAwayWithTheSpoon because her tics are physically exhausting, so she's often fatigued from spending hours ticcing. And because she's fatigued from the tics she's often off her food too.

The ongoing headache is the noticeably different thing and it's not responding to regular pain relief whereas it normally does.

The sore throat isn't sure enough for strepsils, just mild atm.

I mean this from the nicest place possible......call 111 .....don't ask online strangers to diagnose or misdiagnose!

That's what the service is for, not MN

MissisBoote · 05/12/2020 19:35

@cantkeepgoing don't worry - I've called 111.
A GP is going to call back at some point.

Hope your dd feels better soon OP. A headache that just wont quit and doesnt respond to painkillers is a typical COVID thing so that would be my guess also, but best to speak to a gp so other options are explored.

A headache that you can’t shake off has been mentioned by people who have had positive tests.
I’d be getting a test.

What happened missisboote?
How us your dd?

Top covid symptoms in children are lingering headache, fatigue for no good reason and sore throat. Also stomach upset. Loss of taste/smell tends to develop in older children/teens after about 5 days or so. A temperature if it occurs at all, is very short lived and very early on so often missed.

My council/local schools would be recommending a test for those symptoms.

MissisBoote · 08/12/2020 12:56

@dingledongle Doctor said to get a covid test. Alternatively it could be a tension headache.

Tried to do a walk in test yesterday however completely unsuccessful due to DD's uncontrollable head tic. A little bit of a challenge getting a swab up your nose when you can't keep your head still Grin Have ordered a home test.

DD's test came back negative.
