Molluscum?

Could anyone help please? Do these look like molluscum spots? Dd started with them yesterday, they’re on her elbows knees and a little on her arms. They don’t hurt but are slightly itchy. She’s had chicken pox previously so I’m guessing that’s not it and they’re on both side so not shingles?

Our mollescum were rounded, more like a spot with a white head. Some had red skin around them.

If they are mollescum we found that Lemon Myrtle oil worked wonders. It was a tip from here I think.

Hmm no spots in the centre of them. Maybe hives then but I can’t think of anything she’s eaten/been in contact with that she’s allergic to! Kids are a mystery. I’ll try her with some antihistamine and see if that helps.

I can't see the photos very well but it would be unusual to start with so many. Usually one or two then spread, particularly in areas which rub like the backs of knees.

Molloscum spots are slightly pearly with a little dimple in the centre.

Other things It could be - a fungal infection or excema patches...?

Or bites of some sort?

I have heard of rare cases of children getting chicken pox more than once, particularly if they caught a mild dose first time.

I think I would check with a GP really.

My son has a few mollescum and his are like tiny blisters that are very, very itchy and first they had a dimple in the centre.

The GP said no treatment, just ride it out but 7 months on and they are getting angrier.

newnamenancy, I've not heard of Lemon Myrtle oil. Is that diluted first before applying?

My eldest brought molluscum home with him from school.

It soon spread to myself and his brother.

That doesn't look like molluscum to me. In my experience molluscum likes the softer skin, inside of legs, creases of the next, under arms. Less so the bony parts.

Molludab worked a treat on Ds1. It did nothing fore or ds2.

I squeezed the heads out of mine. Loads of blood but not painful, cleared up almost instantly.

DS2 wouldn't tolerated having his squeezed so we left his alone. They spread to his legs and back but after 2 years!! They eventually cleared up by themselves.

@Whattheworldneedsnowislove

So sorry, only just saw your question.

Yes, dilute it or it will really sting. We used olive oil. It did still sting slightly but they were gone within a week/10 days.

Friend of mine used it too on her son and his went even quicker

newnamenancy thank you! I have just checked them and they are less red but increased in size, sigh.

I will try this.

Thanks again.
