Can scars hurt ten years later?

DD had an open surgery op on her kidney as a small baby. The scar was about an inch long then. Nearly ten years later obv she is many times bigger and the scar is about four inches and now she has started saying it hurts like a bruise. Is this normal or should i be concerned there is an actual kidney problem (urine test last week was clear)?

Well this isn't nearly the same but I do have a small incision scar from a procedure several years ago and I do get a searing "sting" in it still to this day.
Only lasts a second or two and probably only every couple of months, but it's just enough to remind me it's still there.

I have a small scar from having my appendix out that itches and can be a bit painful but always from when has surgery not later. Surgery was 25 years ago. If the scar has changed recently might be worth getting it checked out with the GP or maybe pharmacy.

Ds1 had surgery at 9 months to put in a vp shunt for hydrocephalus. He has two scars - one on the side of his head and one on his stomach where they sited the tube. He never complains about the one on his head but he does complain that he can sometimes ‘feel’ his stomach scar. I think it moves more and he feels the stretch of the scar tissue as he grows.
