Hello all,

First time mum here and my 7.5 month old son has woken up today with his first cold. Poor thing has a runny nose.

I called the drs who asked me to check his temperature which was 36.8 and they've told me to keep checking and if it goes u to 37.7 to call back or call 111.

I guess what I'm looking for are tips on how best to care for him? He's so precious and my heart breaks seeing him poorly

The first winter is horrible!
The things that will help his stuffy nose, steamy water in the room at night, I also used to add a drop of olbas baby. Saline solution to squirt up their nose, it does help clear it.
Elevate the cot slightly with books under the legs.
If he has a fever take his socks off. That always seems to help lower it.
Use calpol when necessary.
Just bear in mind he’ll be back to normal in a few days.

I am also a first time mom. I always use saline to clear up the nose which is very helpful. If the temperature goes up, use calpol. It will ease the overall discomfort as well. He will be alright.Smile
