Weird hiccup burps

Dd7 seems to be having some sort of gastro issue at the moment.
She’s recently had stool and blood tests because she been having stomach pains, loose stools and really bad wind. These all came back normal. Now on top of these issues she’s developed this thing that’s like hiccups but she’s burping instead. it’s happening fairly often and is obviously unpleasant for her.
I’m just not quite sure where to go from here my gut (or rather her gut!) is telling me something is up but her tests have been fine.

  1. Is it worth going back about all these random symptoms.
  2. What are these burp/hiccups and is there anything we can to avoid/relive them (they last for quite a long time.

Hi, did you get anywhere with this? My baby is experiencing the same thing. X

It could be silent reflux. My daughter has bad silent reflux and gets really wet sounding hiccups when she is struggling with her reflux

Thanks for your reply.

She does actually have reflux so might explain it.

I cant wait until she grows out of it.

Most out grow it by aged 1 and even more by aged 2.
My daughter unfortunately is in the bloody awkward category and still really struggling despite all the meds available aged 3.

Do look into meds if you haven't already. They will grow out of it but you and them don't have to suffer in the meantime and from a longer term perspective there can be consequences of controlled reflux. My daughter has acid damage to some of her teeth.

Aw sorry, that’s a shame for her.

We’ve had to put her on carobel thickener as she spews up a lot of her feeds.

Also have gaviscon for when it is really bad.

Superscientist · 17/11/2023 15:32

You might find omperazole helpful. It made a big difference for my daughter.

Gaviscon and carobel are very similar so can't be used together just something to watch out for. We settled on gaviscon as she reacted to carobel and she had as much as we could get in her. she was on 9 sachets a day at one point it was mad!
