Poo withholding and laxido dose confusion.

My daughter was prescribed laxido by the doctor for poo withholding but when I went to pick up the prescription the pharmacist said the dosage was way too high for a 21 month old. It was 2 sachets for 2 day's, 4 sachets for 2 days then 6 sachets for 2 days and then 8 sachets daily until impaction resolves. The pharmacist worried me and told me to give her one sachet a day and she has been going daily but still withholds as long as she can. I can't get in touch with the doctor and have been told he will ring me when possible so I've followed the pharmacists recommendation. She is pooing but not without a struggle as she tries so hard to hold it in. I do think it's a psychological issue but the doctor thinks it's due to impaction. I'm just so confused from the pharmacists reaction. Has anyone had an experience with poo withholding and what solved it?

My son has been on laxido for about a year and a half. For slightly different reasons, his was for constipation rather than withholding, but he's three and a half and only has one sachet a day. He was on half a sachet until he turned three and has never had or needed more than one a day.

Your prescription does sound high to me on that basis, but the impaction might be worse? Worth double checking.
