What’s this on my babies leg?

White patch on my 5 Month olds leg. Not dry or sore and can’t find any other patches. Any ideas?

Birthmark?

Definitely not a birth mark as I only noticed it today when changing her nappy!

My DD had white patches appear when she was a few months old! I was told it's vitiligo, it's harmless I was told it's quite common. Get it checked if you're worried. I don't even notice my DD's anymore even though it's quite a large area on her tummy

Could be vitiligo as suggested. That can just be contained to one area, although I must admit I can barely see anything.

There is a fungal skin infection that causes white patches but that would also cause dry scaly skin on the patch.

Your baby has gorgeous chubby little legs by the way.

Lots of things can cause white patches.

Fungal infections, eczema and inflammation can all interfere with the pigment cells, normally temporarily.

Brith marks can also become visible months after birth as the child's natural pigmentation matures. I didn't notice my daughters cafe-au-lait birthmark until she was about 4 months old.

It's very unlikely to be vitiligo, but as with all lesions worth getting a professional opinion.

My guess would be vitiligo. It can look quite different depending on how pale or dark your skin is. Perhaps worth booking a non-urgent GP appointment if you want to be sure?
