Psoriasis in children

Hi

My husband, his dad and his brother all suffer from psoriasis, but not his sister, so it seems a ‘male problem’ In his family. We have two boys and have always been paranoid about them developing it. Our eldest, who is 8, has perfect skin. But our 3yo is getting quite bad patches of red, itchy skin around the inside of his elbows and back of his knees, as well as smaller bits on his upper arms and thighs. When he was younger, the doctor said it was eczema and we’ve had all the creams. But recently it’s worse. We’re still putting the usual creams on, but they’re not doing much. Obviously we will try the doctors again, but in the meantime:

If your child has psoriasis, what age did it start and what did it look like? Thanks

My daughter had a few attacks of Guttate psorasis when younger, she is now 16 and gets a few patches of psorasis on her arms and face. My son gets it quite bad round his hairline and some on his arms, my father has psoratic arthritis so that may be the genetic link.

Can you remember what age it started? My husband may be in denial, but he’s trying to convince me that it isn’t psoriasis as he’s too young.

My dd had her first episode of guttate psorasis when she was about 7 but she had a few patches of eczema since the toddler stage but GP , when diagnosing the Guttate Psorasis did wonder if they had actually been patches of Eczema. I really can't remember when my son started with it but it was teenage years, he is now 30 years old so am struggling to remember!

Sorry, GP wondered if the toddler Eczema was infact psorasis is what i meant to say.
