My baby has something picked up on her anomaly scan they suspected either ovarian cyst or pelvic kidney/no kidney I was transferred to a specialist at a different hospital for 2 further scans they still didn't seem to have a clue which caused me extra anxiety
She has been born and scanned at 1 week old they 'think' it's a bone functioning left kidney I was then told she has to have a DMSA scan at a different hospital before she's 12 weeks old
I've been chasing this up and now it's not going to be until after mid November at the earliest when she will be well over 12 weeks

My questions are isit important that she has it done before 12 weeks old

What if it's causing her pain and we are prolonging this

It's also causing me a lot of worry

Thank you x

Delays to investigations are always stressful.

Before ultrasounds in pregnancy were common it's likely that many people went through life with these sorts of abnormalities and never noticed. The other kidney happily grows more and does more work to compensate. They're not associated with pain so you can rest easy regarding that.

In general the dates on these things are guidelines rather than absolutes.

I would write down all your questions about what's going on before your next paediatrician appointment (after the scan?) and ask that they write a letter in plain English to you, not just your GP; so you have the clearest possible understanding of your baby's situation and what it means for them.
