Stitch when walking

In the last little while, my six year old DS has been regularly complaining of getting stitch when we are out for walks. This last time he was crying in pain, which seemed a little odd to me since he was not over-exerting himself. It doesn't last for long and then it is better. Does anyone know if there ever a situation when a stitch is not just a stitch, and whether it should be checked?
He is generally a very healthy little boy, he has some recurring bouts of what the rheumatologist thinks is some form of reactive arthritis (after extensive investigations). Luckily, though, one positive side-effect of quarantine has been that he is not had a cold for ages, which usually triggers it. He has never been healthier than he is now.
