We've been told my daughter has Drusens and has to come back to the eye hospital in a month. I struggled to understand the doctors strong accent which was only made harder with a mask (obviously not his fault). Anyone got any advice and/or experience with this. She's getting headaches and we've been told we might need an mri but the letter is being sent to the GP to decide, which doesn't make much sense to me. She already has problems with little depth perception and bad eye sight.

Sorry I don’t have any understanding of this condition, (my 6yo has a different optical condition) but wanted to send sympathy for what sounds like a worrying situation.

Thank you @CovoidanceMechanism

They’re nothing to worry about in themselves, but they can make the optic disc look swollen, when they aren’t really swollen (and swollen optic discs can indicate lots of other problems).

If the doctor has done an OCT and is sure that they are drusen, then there is little to worry about. Although the eyes need to be checked in a regular basis for visual field changes.
