It'll fade in time op. Most people who had the jab have visible if not huge scars. Not much you can do really.

FourPlasticRings · 28/07/2020 22:38

That's fairly huge, OP. Mine's less than 1cm in diameter and circular. It might lessen as she ages, perhaps?

MinnieMousse · 28/07/2020 22:38

It will shrink and fade to a barely noticeable colour. Just about anyone over 40 in the UK had the BCG jab as teenagers and I'm sure you never notice any of their scars. I've got one and have to look really closely to see it now, although I had a reaction to the injection at the time and it was very red and noticeable for a few montbs after I had it done.

Oh thanks for info. Was yours also that big after you had the reaction ? My baby’s was oozing for few weeks and the scar now has rippled edges do you think those will smooth out too ?

I can't remember the exact size but it was definitely quite large and was also oozy for a while. Did you get it checked for infection? I think it must have started to fade fairly quickly. I was in the self-conscious teenage years and don't remember being bothered by it.

Julitaa · 28/07/2020 23:23

It didn’t get infected I had it checked regularly by health visitor they just said it’s unusual reaction, it will leave a scar 😳

I have a bcg scar. It really doesn't bother me. Prob half a cm slightly different colour of skin, i doubt anyone would notice unless pointed out. Never been an issue.

AnnaSW1 · 28/07/2020 23:33

It will settle. My daughter's oozed on and off for12 months! Also not infected. Just a usual reaction. As they grow it looks much smaller.

midnightstar66 · 29/07/2020 07:53

Mine became large red and inflamed several months after the actual injection. It was a small white dot for years but now no longer visible. You could use some bio oil or similar to speed up fading.

BCG scars are strange things. DH and I both have tiny ones as adults tht are barely recognisable, but I think it took years and years to fade to that point.

My 3 DCs have all reacted differently. My eldest has a big scar, DC2 has nothing at all, and DC3 has a small scar. Hope they will all fade in adulthood.

Better to have got them done, though!
