Dry skin on newborn

can I ask what you have used on your baby's dry skin? DS is 8 weeks old and has skin that feels almost scaly on his arms legs, face and tummy. I asked the doctor at his 6 wk check and she couldn't have been less bothered.

So far I've tried
Olive oil
Coconut oil
Aveeno baby cream
And an organic eczema balm to no avail. He only gets bathed every other day.

This is DC3 and I've never had this before!

Have you tried vaseline? It's pretty messy stuff, but it was pretty much the only thing that helped. They do some easy application creams that helped too.

My little boy had terrible eczema, and it started at around 4 months. Nothing worked except the vaseline based creams.

Sweet almond oil is brilliant and very gentle. DC2 had such sore skin as a baby and I didn't have any luck in soothing it, within a few days of using the sweet almond oil it had completely cleared up.

He's two and a half now and I still keep a bottle in the cupboard for skin irritations etc. I use it under my moisturiser a couple of nights a week too for a boost and makes a huge difference to my skin.

Thank you both - I haven’t tried those so will try them both!
