Amoxicillin for 11 month old

Rainsparkle · 16/07/2020 07:27

Docs prescribed 5ml of amoxicillin three times a day for my DD, read through the leaflet and it says children under 5 years should only take 1.25ml three times a day. With it being a telephone appointment and then not actually seeing DD could they have prescribed the wrong dosage? What do I give her?

Thanks

Have you spoke to your pharmacist?

How near to 5 is she?

IwillrunIwillfly · 17/07/2020 02:12

5mls is fine as long as she's over 1 month. Children 1month-11month is 5mls of 125mg in 5mls, 1 to 4 years is 5mls of 250mg in 5mls. So she's definitely not getting too much 1.25mls would be too small a dose.

Presuming it is 125mg/5ml suspension then it's the right dose.

5 ml would deliver 125mg of drug which is what has been prescribed.
