Breast bud - is this normal?

My 8 year old DD has what I presume is a breast bud, a lump under one nipple which is quite sore to touch. She has had a couple of other signs of puberty, despite being a very skinny little fussy eater!

The thing is, the lump is visibly blue under there. Is that normal? It could be a vein, but looks more 'lumpish' and isn't easily recognisable as a vein.

Thanks in advance.

Yes normal but get her checked out with a medical professional if you feel it’s appropriate.

Please do not reply/share further stories of your own children’s private experiences.

Posted too soon! People post about their kids’ experiences all the time! It’s pretty much what MN is about.

Thank you

Yes, please don't feel the need to tell me about your own children's bodies. I'm not a pervert.

Thankfully the Op knows what I mean, and it’s not always about who’s on the thread. You don’t know who is lurking!

As I said, it is normal but if it would put your mind at rest, get her checked out.

I spoke to the nurse who asked us to go in. She brought in the Dr who said he thinks it's likely bruising or vascular, just coming from the growth.
