cough with no symptoms 3 month old

wonder if anyone has any ides.. my 3 month old has a minor dry cough that has lasted about two/three weeks now with no symptoms or signs of a fever/cold/illness. sometimes i believe it's from excess saliva trickling down his throat as he's been dribbling a lot lately but honestly unsure, he's also had a bit of oral thrush.
in the current situation with coronavirus i'm not sure i will get much of an answer as he'd probably be treated as tho he has the virus.. which i'm 99% sure he doesn't. is it a normal baby thing? i don't remember much from my first. i don't feel concerned as he's his usual self, there's no wheezing or anything alarming, just a small cough pretty much everyday but not continuously throughout the day

would really appreciate any answer thank you!

With a baby that young, I would check in with the GP

If he's had it for 2-3 weeks they won't test for coronavirus as a test needs to be done within the first few days of symptoms. Coughing for a long time after a viral infection is very common and can sometimes be a sign of asthma in children (but your baby is far too young to know anything about that yet - mine is 2 and us/GP still aren't clear whether or not she is asthmatic). I would make a Tel appt with GP though in the first instance. They will probably invite you in to check baby's chest and breathing.

@SeaToSki @MeadowHay thanks for the replies.
i will drop my GP a message on the app as that's how everything's dealt with now! 😅
i am thinking they are gonna be much slower in tending to this which is concerning but i will see how it goes

Not my experience Pinky and i've seen other people on MN say the same - it's been so much easier and quicker to get GP consults for me since lockdown began so fingers crossed.

Read up on babies and social cough. I believe it’s a cute way to get your attention.

@MeadowHay i agree it has been much easier in some respects! may be a bit difficult with a cough. also don't help with covid making us paranoid over every little sniffle lol

@fallfallfall never heard of that one i shall look it up! thanks 😊
