Hi
I was wondering if anyone could offer any suggestions or advice.

My baby is 1 month old - she was born at 38 weeks and had a tricky start with tongue tie and pain in her stomach and adjusting to formula therefore had her tongue cut and put onto prescribed milk (nutrmigen). Things appeared to settle but now her bowel movements have slowed right down and she appears to be really struggling with pain in her tummy and passing stools. She hasn't passed a stool for almost 2 days and just vomited her bottle up -and her tummy is very bloated....I've tried warm baths, rubbing her tummy, cycling her legs, warm water on her bottom.....

What's your thoughts, suggestions and advice?? It's horrible seeing her pain and uncomfortable. :(

Hi, my little girl was on nutramigen from about 6 months old as she struggled to put on weight and would keep anything down. It absolutely stinks doesn't it?! She did get very constipated it was awful. My doctor ended up giving her lactose and that seemed to do the trick. As she was a bit older than your DD I don't know for sure if they would prescribe this. My little on had a few other health issues as well. I would go and see your doctor or midwife if you've not been discharged. If it does get any worse please take her to A&E as they will fast track you as shes so young. Sorry I can't be more help. Xxx

Ah thank you! I do think it's the milk that is constipating her as she was having explosive bowel movements before this...she has now passed a big stool but I know this will happen again. I did call my doctor and they gave me an emergency telephone appointment which I missed as someone knocked at the door!! I requested a minute after the missed call if they called me back and they said no! So frustrating!!!! I might try 111 and see what their advice is and yes nutramigen stinks!!!!!!! Haha xx

Bless her she must be so uncomfortable with it. She can't even have boiled water to get her going either can she. Mine use to break my heart, they ended up switching her on to a different milk in the end. Oh gosh that's really bad considering she is only 4 weeks old she should be a priority. Good idea hopefully they will have an idea on how to help. Do you have a dietian? If not if you can get in touch with your health visitor they should be able to help you too. It is definitely the milk mine had no problems when we switched the milk use to make me vomit as it smelt that bad so my other half use to have to make it up. Xxx

Yes very uncomfortable. My HV said I could try a small amount of boiled water so may try that during the day tomorrow. Although she has been twice now lol. I'm still going to get some advice
Because it wakes her etc

Yes the milk is awful - smells so bad lol xx
