We use an ear thermometer with replaceable caps. I have noticed over the past few weeks that my daughter’s temperature is always around 37.3. Varies between 37 and 37.5. She is otherwise absolutely fine. I know this doesn’t count as a fever but I thought normal temperatures were supposed to be closer to 36.5. I don’t think it’s just our thermometer as my own temperature always registers around 36.6. Does anybody else have a child with a similar temperature when they are totally well? Thank you.

I knew a little girl and her temperature was always 38...
Always!

Is there any particular reason you seem to be checking her temperature so often?

SickOfNorthernExile · 30/06/2020 01:42

DS can range from 36.2- 37.5 when well. Depends on time of day, how hot the house is, whether he’s just eaten etc etc

He has also spiked fevers of 41+ Shock that have horrified me

Thank you for your replies - it’s reassuring. I just checked her temperature one day during lockdown as she felt a bit hot (obviously being more vigilant due to pandemic) and her temp was about 37.5 - not that far off the figure where the whole house is supposed to isolate! She seemed fine but it prompted me to check her again over the coming days etc and realised it always seems to be high and has been for weeks. She has probably always been like this but I’ve only ever checked her temperature before when she’s been clearly poorly - my daughter regularly has temperatures of 40+ when poorly too and yes, horrifies me too! Thank you x

My normal temperature is between 37-378.

Bagelsandbrie · 30/06/2020 09:16

That’s a normal temperature. Anything over 37.8 is a fever. Some people do just have higher or lower natural temperatures than other people. Mine is always 36.

37.3 is a perfect temperature Smile Our bodies are really fine tuned, so that half a degree to 37.8 is a huge jump, which is why they specify a temperature to be concerned with.

Thank you to everybody for your replies - it’s very reassuring x
