12 month old stye worried

My 12 month old developed a stye on his upper eyelid when he was 11 months old. It swelled and eventually ruptured and bled. I spoke to the doctor a few times and she did a video call. Prescribed some eye drops and said he would be fine. Almost immediately after it burst he began to develop another one on the same eye but on the lower eyelid. Again this swelled and burst about four days ago. Two days ago, my baby began to show signs of being poorly, a runny nose, sounding a little hoarse and very very grumpy. Put it down to a cold and have been treating with paracetamol. However he woke up at midnight crying loudly. By the time I got up the stairs to him, I think he must have rubbed his eye as it was really gunky and bloodshot. I’ve cleaned it again with the warm water and baby shampoo i was told to do but I only finally managed to calm him down ten minutes ago. His eye looks horrible and I did notice today after naps he wasn’t keen on opening his eyes, like the light bothered him. He has been eating and drinking pretty much as usual and having wet nappies. I’m just worried that maybe he doesn’t have a cold and has a secondary infection from his eye. I’m going to phone the doctor first thing but I’d really like him to actually be seen, rather than struggle with a video call. Can I insist (politely) that he be seen because I really am worried about him now. When he was really distressed I very nearly said to DH we should take him to A&E. I know my baby and I think something more is going on here.

You could ring 111 and after the initial questions request an out of hours appointment? I did this a few years ago with my then 9 month old. We were seen at 3am that night.

The baby shampoo was the advice given to me by the GP so I followed it. I had to send photos again, he is now on a 10 day course of antibiotics and if they reoccur again, next time they will swab his eye to see if there is something else causing it. He is doing better already, perking up, it’s so lovely to see his cheeky smile again. Thanks for the replies.
