Mumof2crazies · 18/06/2020 18:56

Ok so to cut a long story short my son has been having stomach pains for well over a month has had blood tests that have all came back normal but every urine test has came back with traces of blood but no infections. His urine has a very strong odour and looks like pure orange juice. I am at my going crazy trying to think what it could be.

Kidney stone?

Mumof2crazies · 19/06/2020 14:30

I really dont have a clue. His last results came back today still no infection but trace of red blood cells count of 42 dont have a clue what that means

Ask for ultrasound? My dc had stomach ache for ages, been to gp and A&E. Finally admitted to hospital after 3 trips to A&E and countless GP apps, but they couldn't figure out after testing blood etc. They finally decided to do ultrasound just before discharge because they don't know what it was, but just in case, found what it was, as soon as the radiographer saw the image. I couldn't believe why it wasn't done in the first place. Prevented my dc of months of agony, and few more months of it could have ended up in organ transplant.

My dc's case is different from yours, that was very rare case. But I have learned to be assertive to ask for the test, just in case!

Dark urine and odor makes me think something to do with kidney, traces of blood without infection remind me of the time my dh had kidney stone, and GP has mistaken as stomach bug. Again, ultrasound figured out what it was instantly.

I demanded today that he be referred for a scan was told appointment should come in about a weeks time hopefully get some answers soon. Thats awful about having to wait so long but i always believe that is mums know when something isn't right with our kids

Fingers crossed for you. Hopefully you get the answer soon, and he can get free of pain.

Mumof2crazies · 20/06/2020 15:03

My son being strong headed as always decided to go to football training today. Only to have to keep sitting out due to the pain. Im not sure what to do anymore. Would it be worth taking him to out of hours or a&e. I just feel so helpless not being able to do anything

If he feels well enough to go play football, I think you can wait a week for scan. In both my ds and dh cases, there's no way they were able to go play football while having pains. And anyone who saw them in pain would have called the ambulance.

Mumof2crazies · 20/06/2020 16:06

He wasn't able to play he had to keep sitting out i ended up having to go and collect him.

If he is in agony, maybe it's a good time to take him to A&E, since the hospital must be less busy due to lock down.
My ds had a minor surgery(unrelated to his chronic illness) beginning of this year after A&E trip and admission, they actually brought in portable scan to the room and did the scan straight away. So everything went so quickly because A&E was really quiet.
It's horrible he have to suffer pain for long time.
Hope he feel better soon.

@ShanC95
It's better to start a new thread. On top of the list of thread on each section(in this case children's health), there's a option to start a new thread, right under where it says subject/replies/latest.

My girl is 8 weeks old and always constipated. Have to mostly assist before she can poop after 3days. What can I give to ease this discomfort

Mumof2crazies · 23/06/2020 12:46

@ShanC95
You dont need a reason to go to doctors with that is what they are there for. I would give them a ring and see what they say

ShanC95 · 23/06/2020 22:22

It doesn’t do anything like that for me that why I just had to comment

ShanC95 · 23/06/2020 22:23

They always just say its relux and it will go away or change her milk 🙄

Mumof2crazies · 01/07/2020 15:41

Mumof2crazies, I hope you get an answer. We are in a similar position, long term abdominal pain (3 months now, although it is less sever since the first month) gp referred to paediatrician and we have a scan next week.

Mumof2crazies · 03/07/2020 00:19

So when my son went to toilet there was blood on toilet paper after he cleaned his back passage. Should I be concerned or leave it a few days

OP posts:
BwanaMakubwa · 04/07/2020 11:15

As far as I understand it, bright red blood in a small amount is likely to be from a small tear from constipation or heamorroids and less likely to be something concerning. If he is constipated this could be contributing to some of his general tummy pain. If there was a lot of blood, if his poo is black and tarry or like coffee grounds, or jelly like and red then I would do something more urgently.

Mumof2crazies · 04/07/2020 11:21

He isnt constipated he is going to the toilet fine no straining or anything. The doctors had us try lactose and it just run straight through him so they told us to stop as he didnt need it

2 years on, thought I'd jump on this thread to see if OP got any answers? My DS has exact same symptoms. Been seen by GP waiting for blood test results.

Vs2914 · 29/07/2022 00:00

@bellamountain he had many scans but never got any answers he had been fine for a good couple if months then it all started again. He has been given tablets as the new gp we seen thinks it's an issue with tube going from kidney to bladder now waiting to get an appointment to see a pediatric surgeon.

bellamountain · 29/07/2022 23:30

Keep us posted, hope you get some answers for your DS. They are a constant worry.
