Hard lump under healed cut

My 2 year old cut the top of his finger, while it looked quite deep it didn’t bleed for long so I was happy to let it heal on it’s own instead of taking him to see the dr. It healed well and in a few days he was just left with a tiny while line where the cut had been. Now a few weeks later and I’ve noticed he has a hard lump under the shin where the cut was. It doesn’t seem to bother him unless I put pressure on it and even then he only pulls his hand away. He doesn’t cry. He is using his finger normally as far as I can tell. Has anyone else experienced this with there little one? Could it me an abscess or trapped infection? If it doesn’t go away in another week i plan on taking him to see the dr but I don’t want to take him unnecessarily especially with the virus still about

How’s the lump? If abscess it will end up really sore and red, my son had similar on back of leg and it progressed quickly needed drained and antibiotics

It’s just the same as before. I’m going to give the dr a call on Monday and see what they think. I don’t want it to get any worse.

A keloid?

Ashlene · 20/06/2020 08:41

I’ve just looked at pictures of keloids on google. They seem to be ‘above’ the skin. The lump on my sons finger can’t be seen. It seems to be under the skin so I don’t think it could be that. Unless keloids can be under the skin. I’m not sure. I’ll see what the dr says. I’m hoping it goes away on its own in time 🤞🏻

Could it be something got in to the cut? Like some glass or gravel maybe? And the skin has heeled over it?
