Molluscum prick method

After reading every single molluscum thread on here, and trying a variety of methods, (comfrey cream, dabbing neat tea tree, sudocrem, molludab) I've decided to go with the prick with cocktail stick method.

I don't have cocktail sticks so am using a needle; I tried it last night when DS was asleep on 3 of the larger ones and it didn't disturb him (when I tried Molludab the stinging woke him up crying) so I don't feel too horrendous about the approach.

I don't have iodine though, I used tea tree oil - does anyone know if this will this still work or should I buy some iodine? Also, I'm not sure how much pricking is needed? I tried to get some of the cores out but couldn't seem to manage it, and there was no bleeding or anything.

Also - should I be covering with plasters after? I did last night (those spot plasters) but I've also read somewhere that covering is counter-productive to the healing.

This morning the ones I pricked look slightly red but nothing very noticeable.
