Hi, I wondered if anyone had any hayfever relief ideas for my 7 year old son. He suffers terribly & barely complains. We’ve tried many Medicines & even though they say non drowsy he must fall into the side effect side as he’s always drowsy from them. He takes Loratadine in the morning & Cetirizine before bed (Dr said that’s fine)
He has a constant blocked nose and nothing comes out of it, he wakes up sneezing during the night.
He tried the Benodryl nose spray & has refused since. We use a little Humidifier at night.
I wondered if anyone else has any advice or tips

Myself and my DS suffer terribly with hay-fever. The doctor prescribed DS with Fexofenadine which seems to work better than over the counter antihistamines. We also use a balm under the nose, around the nostrils and on the cheek bones. This also seems to help relatively well, shower regularly. If the eyes are particularly bad use a cold flannel for 15 minutes to help reduce any swelling. Best of luck x

Remember which week it started this year and start regular treatment a week earlier next year.
He should have oral antihistamines as you are doing and if his nose remains bad train himself to tolerate the nasal spray which has to be used regularly to work.
Don't forget all the obvious habits ie wash hands and face as soon as comes in from outside , consider changing clothes when comes in, always wear sunglasses outside etc.
It is miserable but I would rope him in to self management.
