Baby formula

Hi,
Not sure what forum this should have been on but I'm looking for some advice.

I have an 8 day old baby I previously breastfed but this baby has been formula since day one. The last 3 days she has vomited almost a full bottle once a day. This is when laying down and starts with a gurgling sound them a bubbling out her mouth of milk. She is also slightly constipated, poo is being passed a few times a day but they are large nuggets. Lots of wet nappies. Apart from the times she is sick she doesn't seem to have a problem with spit up etc.

Do I try a different formula or is this her little body adjusting to it? Any advice is greatly received.

Is he getting her wind up? Is it baing made up correctly. (only asking as if too concentrate it can lead to probs.)? I would talk to your HV before swapping, that might be the way forward but make sure no other issues apparent first. Some babies are sicky babies as well, mine weren,t my Niece was.

I have formula fed two babies and haven't experienced this, I would definitely give your health visitor a call if I were you x

Hi @june2007 all being made correctly and plenty of burps and trumps. My nephew used to be sick after every bottle until they changed formula which is why I'm not sure whether it's that or not.

My baby had similar issues. How are you making up the bottles? I know this sounds silly but I wasnt putting enough water into them as I wasnt accounting for a volume of formula, so when I filled it to 4oz it was meant to be filled to 4.5oz to account for a space the formula took up. My DD was also very vomity. She was never uncomfortable so I didnt worry too much, but she puked a lot! For months and months.

As pp said, speak to the HV. They would come across this very often.

Bottles are made up with 4 scoops of powder and the 4oz bottle on the prep machine, prep machine is filled with cooled boiled water.

Ye thayts fine. Once I started using the prep machine I realised the mistake I was making filling the bottles myself as the prep machine fills to 4.5oz or so. She may just be taking some time to adjust to the formula, or it may be a bit strong for her. I had my DD on Aptamil. I think the main thing is looking out for signs of discomfort or pain, so basically colic, along with the vomiting. Speak to the HV. They should know more about formulas for sicky babies.

With a baby so young and constipated I would be speaking to your midwife and GP.
