Penis pain

My 8yo has just started crying in pain after going to the toilet, saying the end of his penis hurts. Apparently it feels like an "inside" pain, a mixture of a sharp pain and an ache, and mainly towards the end.
It all looks normal, given him some calpol but he's still in pain.

I thought it might be a UTI but do these appear quickly? Any advice? Please?

Pain when passing urine is a good indicator of UTI. Contact your GP or 111 for advice and they will arrange a urine dip. X
