DD has always had trouble falling asleep, she goes to bed at 8 and on a good night she is asleep by 11, bad nights not until after midnight, but she would always sleep solidly once she fell asleep. For the last week though she has started waking up in the night and finding it hard to fall back asleep. Last night she woke up while it was still dark (sunrise is at 4:30 where we are) and was awake until I got up at 6:30
She was prescribed melatonin a few years ago and she used it for a couple of months and then things improved, then just occasionally until a few months ago when she started needing it every night again. We weaned off a month ago without any difference in her sleep but now there's this. She had melatonin last night, which helped her fall asleep by 10:30 at least but it doesn't help with the waking up.
At a loss for what to do now as school has started back today so she can't even catch up on sleep in the mornings if she does fall back asleep.
