4 year old constantly going for a wee but not doing nothing

Hi has anybody else's child constantly say they need a wee but do nothing 90% of the time. My little girl is 4 years old, I thought it was because she was in the swimming pool & she just thought she needed one being in the water. But this has lasted over a month now & I dont know if it's just a habit now or something else. Advice please? Thank you.

Possibly a urine infection?

LordOftheRingz · 15/05/2020 13:36

I would seek a urine analysis and if that is clear I would seek info from ERIC, the child bladder and bowel charity incase it is anxiety based.

Thank you for advice. Can I add shes out of pull ups of a night and doesn't need to go then or have accidents

My first port of call would still be the GP. Kids do these things though and they grow out of them. Check that nothing is wrong on a physical level first though.

That sounds a lot like cystitis. Could be an infection of her urinary tract only, or possibly bladder too. Please get her checked out. Could end up with kidney infection.

How is your DD? Have you seen a GP yet?

Luciemariee93 · 19/05/2020 11:38

Still going every 10 minutes I think I'm going to phone 111 for advice because I dont want to be taking her docs with this virus about if I dont need to

Surely just call the GP before 111? They won’t ask you into the surgery if it’s not needed.

Ringsender2 · 19/05/2020 15:33

Yes GP
Just do it. Your poor DD!

UPDATE sorry for late reply. Had to do 3 different samples for the doctors all came back mixed growth. They couldn't explain as I'd been sterilising jars for her to wie in, so they gave her antibiotics to be on safe side. Thank you all
