Just after some advice / reassurance.

DS (will be 2 next week) woke up half an hour ago as usual, called for us & chatted to himself as we got up. Went into his room & there's blood all over his face & smears on the sheets! Needless to say it was a bit of a shock.

He's fine & acting normally. I used to get nosebleeds as a child but I don't recall having them until I was a much older child, he seems so little!

WWYD? I have rushed him to the GP needlessly before as I tend to be more anxious, so that's why I'm posting here first.

DS had small nosebleeds at that age, and would sometimes wake up as you describe. It’s probably a lot less blood than it looks. Just keep an eye on your DC, most likely they’re absolutely fine.

If he seems fine in himself and it has stopped and is the only occurrence today then I don't think you need to seek medical attention.

I can't remember how old but at roughly a similar age, the same happened with DD and I remember the shock at finding her surrounded by blood! I happened to have a GP appointment that day for something else so mentioned it and the GP said it was nothing to worry about as long as it doesn't go on too long and isn't happening frequently.

Probably from a finger stuck up the nose. One nose bleed that's stopped isn't anything to worry about.

Thank you all, he's absolutely fine. It was just a shock first thing in the morning & looked more than it was.
