DD3 has woken up for the 3rd time in a couple of months covered in these angry bites. They are only on her torso and arms and only appear overnight. I have boiled and hoovered everything in her bed and room and can see nothing obvious and none of the rest of us are affected.
I emailed pictures to the gp and spoke to her on the phone and she has forwarded them to dermatology so I’ll see what they think, just wondered if anyone has had similar?

Bed bugs?
They are tiny and live in cracks. Could be between floorboard and skirting board. Inside bed frame. Under bed between mattress and slats.

They look itchy poor thing! Is she playing out in the garden? There are loads of biting bugs about at the moment

Looks like mosquito bites but a reaction to them which some people get worse than others

I don’t think it is bed bugs, I have checked so carefully and no one else has any bites. She shares bunk beds so I would expect at least her sibling to be affected.
She is in the garden lots so I wonder if it is possible that she is bitten during the day but doesn’t react until overnight? She had very similar bites last summer which the pharmacist thought was chickenpox, she never developed more spots though and none of her siblings got it so I doubt it was.
The GP phoned back this morning and had spoken to dermatology who confirmed it is bites and gave her a strong steroid cream and antihistamines so hopefully it stops being so sore and itchy soon! Thank you all for ideas.

I react the next day to bites. If a mosquito bit me at 10 in the evening I would start to itch about lunchtime the next day

Have you got a cat or dog? My son had something that looked the same while younger and our kitten had fleas 👎he had a bad reaction to the bites.

Ilovecats14 · 06/05/2020 21:12

Should have added they looked like your pics because he had itched at them in the night 🙈 our cat no longer has fleas btw

I would say Mosquito bites. Wash all the bites in warm soapy water to break down the enzymes and apply some anti histamine bite cream. Or give some piriton if its age appropriate, but wash them well in the soapy water first.
